STRONGMAN AND SHADOWS

Updated: Dec 27, 2024

A LEGACY OF HUMANITY'S RESISTANCE

Throughout human history, we have witnessed the rise of ruthless leaders, strongmen whose reigns were marked by fear, oppression, and the exploitation of their people’s basest instincts. Figures like Hitler, Stalin, Putin, and the Ayatollahs did not ascend through pure political skill alone; they wielded an influence that transcended the material, tapping into a dark spiritual force that ancient traditions identify as the Asuric influence. These leaders, consciously or not, embodied the qualities of the Asuras—mythical beings recognized in Hindu, Buddhist, and esoteric teachings as symbols of humanity’s darkest inclinations. The Asuras drive humanity toward greed, cruelty, and moral decay, urging us to embrace divisiveness over unity and fear over compassion.

The Asuras are not passive; they are corrupters who thrive in environments where fear, deception, and division reign. Hitler’s regime, for instance, exemplified the Asuric power of manipulation. He twisted truths, stoked fears, and fostered hatred, creating an atmosphere that encouraged followers to abandon empathy for suspicion and violence. Under his leadership, millions were led to believe that their strength and survival required the subjugation and elimination of others, particularly those deemed “undesirable.” Hitler’s use of propaganda, fearmongering, and scapegoating aligned perfectly with the Asuric strategy of dividing people, turning communities against each other, and eroding any shared humanity.

Stalin’s rule in the Soviet Union reflected another facet of Asuric influence: absolute control and the use of terror as a means of governance. His brutal purges, forced famines, and suppression of dissent were not merely acts of political strategy; they were deeply rooted in a philosophy that saw human lives as expendable, mere tools for consolidating his vision of power. The Asuras feed on this perspective, reducing human worth to that of a resource to be exploited or eliminated for the “greater good” of the regime.

In more recent history, leaders like Kim Jong Un have continued this legacy. Kim’s rule in North Korea has been marked by absolute control over his people, enforced through a climate of fear, isolation, and rigid obedience. The regime silences dissent with brutal consequences, using imprisonment, forced labor camps, and even execution to suppress any form of opposition. Kim maintains power through a cult of personality, presenting himself as a near-divine figure and employing relentless propaganda to instill unwavering loyalty among the populace. Information is tightly controlled, and any questioning of the regime is swiftly punished.

Similarly, in certain theocratic regimes, leaders wield spiritual authority as a tool of oppression, using fear of the divine to suppress dissent and maintain control. In Iran, for instance, the Supreme Leader holds significant power over both religious and political life, claiming divine authority to interpret Islamic law. This power is used to enforce strict social and moral codes, with any form of dissent or questioning harshly punished. Through this intertwining of religious doctrine and political authority, the regime exploits followers’ faith and devotion, transforming it into a mechanism that stifles personal freedom and keeps all power firmly in the hands of the ruling elite.

While history is replete with examples of the Asuric influence manifested in these tyrants, it also shows that humanity has never been entirely helpless against this darkness. Despite the Asuras’ efforts to plunge us into division, fear, and moral decay, humanity’s inherent resilience has continually emerged to challenge these dark forces. Just as there are malevolent forces, spiritual teachings remind us that there are also benevolent, higher forces—our “better angels” and guardians—that support and uplift humanity in times of great need.

During the darkest periods of Hitler’s rule, there were individuals and entire networks who resisted, risking their lives to protect those being persecuted. In Stalin’s Soviet Union, underground movements, poets, artists, and thinkers defied the regime’s suppression of the human spirit, preserving ideas of freedom and truth. Even under the oppressive regimes of the Ayatollahs, brave individuals have continued to speak out, advocating for human rights, freedom, and compassion. These acts of resistance are not just political or social; they are spiritual, drawing on a source of strength that transcends human ambition and fear.

It is in these moments that humanity’s connection to higher spiritual forces becomes evident. The teachings of love, compassion, and unity resonate through figures who, inspired by ideals that oppose Asuric forces, stand up against oppression. Leaders like Gandhi and Martin Luther King Jr. have shown us the path of nonviolent resistance, rooted in love and unity, as a counterforce to tyranny and hatred. Their lives remind us that no matter how powerful the darkness appears, the light of compassion and truth can always find a way through.

The struggle between the Asuric forces and humanity’s higher ideals is not confined to history; it is a continuous battle that plays out both globally and within each of us. The Asuras seek to awaken our basest instincts—anger, fear, greed—while our higher nature, encouraged by benevolent spiritual forces, calls us toward empathy, courage, and unity. This battle defines what it means to be human.

In our modern world, this struggle continues. We see echoes of Asuric influence in societies obsessed with materialism, where worth is measured by wealth rather than character, and in political landscapes where division is fostered over unity. The Asuras thrive when we are divided, and they grow stronger when we lose sight of our shared humanity.

Yet, every act of kindness, every choice to forgive, and every step taken toward unity weakens the Asuric hold on our world. When we choose compassion over judgment, connection over isolation, we resist these forces and actively build a world that honors our highest potential.

Recognizing the Asuric influence is not just a call to despair but an opportunity for transformation. History shows us that the Asuras may inspire fearsome leaders, but they cannot crush the human spirit. Each act of courage, each choice to stand up for love and compassion, draws on the strength of higher forces—benevolent beings who guide, protect, and inspire us to rise above our darker inclinations.

As we move forward, remember that we are not alone in this struggle. Our better angels, the guardians of compassion and unity, walk with us. They inspire our best qualities and remind us of our true nature—a nature capable of love, resilience, and transformation, even in the face of profound darkness.

The influence of Asuric forces may be a dark mark on humanity’s history, but it is equally marked by resilience by individuals who dared to dream of a world based on love, justice, and unity. By embracing these values and listening to the call of our higher selves, we can continue to walk a path that defies the influence of the Asuras and builds a future where light, compassion, and unity reign.
